OUR STORY

 We are a privately-owned, locally-owned veterinary clinic, established in June of 2020. When we say locally owned, we don't just mean the owners live in Flagstaff - the owners were both born right here at FMC, and have deep roots within the community. We pride ourselves on providing pragmatic veterinary care, and in taking the time to truly get to know our patients and clients. We're also in the process of earning our certification as a "Cat Friendly Practice" through the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). Most people assume their veterinary care provider is a locally owned and operated small business, but that may not be the case anymore. Over the last few decades, many long-established neighborhood veterinary practices have been purchased by large companies or private equity groups who see enormous financial opportunity within the pet care industry. In other words, small town veterinary care has turned into a big profit center. Believe it or not, it's already happened right here in Flagstaff. These acquisitions tend to not be publicized, and there's rarely immediate changes that alert clients to new ownership. Midtown was approached in our first year by several of these larger companies looking to consolidate pet care, and we refused then (and refuse now) to give in to corporate medicine. We really hope our clients put up the same fight!

We are proud to be locally owned, and to be members of the Independent Veterinary Practitioners Association (IVPA), symbolizing our commitment to our patients, our clients, and the community as a whole.

What makes us different?

Well, a lot does, if we're being honest. Midtown is about as independent as you can get!

 

The idea of Midtown was born in mid-May of 2020. By June 1st, we were up and running! We manage nearly everything in-house - from social media, to marketing/advertising, web design, and even payroll/accounting. You might be wondering why this matters, but it helps us keep our overhead as low as possible. Maintaining a low overhead helps us provide a living wage to our staff and to keep the cost of our services down.

 

You've probably also noticed that we approach veterinary medicine with a different attitude than most, and that we truly mean it when we call our environment "family-style." We believe that pets should actually LIKE their vets, and that pet owners should be able to witness this special relationship. We're confident your pet will love us, and we're prepared to do whatever it takes to befriend them!
